George Goodridge Roberts learned to read English and Latin when he was very young, started school at the age of eight, and graduated from the Fredericton Collegiate School and entered King’s College (later the University of New Brunswick) in 1849. He received his ba on 24 June 1852, and, while he studied for holy orders, he taught under his father, who was headmaster of the Fredericton Collegiate School, and at Bishop’s College School in Lennoxville, Lower Canada.
